29 March 2012: The Most Ven. Prof. Dr. Phra Dharmakosajarn, Rector of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, with Assist. Prof. Phramaha Hansa Dhammahaso, Ph.D., assistant to rector for academic affairs, have participated in the meeting the board of committee for prepared the 2600 Sambuddha Jayanti of Buddha's Enlightenment 1/2555 at meeting room 401 floor 4 government house to consider ways to make flag to celebrating 2600 Sambuddha Jayanti, operation plan, and related projects.
In this meeting Mr. Yongyuth Vichaidith, deputy prime minister, chaired of the meeting with Somded Phra Wanrat Nainiwatthamrong Boonsongpaisarn, minister to the prime minister, Prof. Dr. Thongtong Jantarangsu, secretary to the office of the prime minister and Mr. Nopparath Benjawattananont, Director of National Bhuddhism. Along with representatives from government agencies and private organizations for about 80 people participate in this meeting.
Mr.Yongyuth said as Buddhist and on behalf of the Thai government, there is a great pleasure to be the backbone of a great event to celebrate this huge and important occasion of the Buddhas enlightenment. As the Minister, I will take this opportunity to celebrate this huge event and take mobilization across the country. Therefore, I would like to invite both government agencies and private organizations to participate in the event.
The Most Ven. Prof. Dr. Phra Dharmakosajarn, as rector of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and president of the International Council for Day of Vesak, said As MCU has been entrusted by the Government of Thailand and the Supreme Sangha Council to be host for this event, I would like to take this opportunity to invite Buddhists around the world to participate in the 2600 Sambuddha Jayanti of Buddha's Enlightenment. The opening ceremony will be held on 31 may 2012. On 1 June 2012 is an academic debate. Closing ceremony will be on 2 June 2012 at UNCC hall and in the evening, the leading scholars and Buddhist leaders will go to make Candlelit procession and pray at Phutthamonthon, Nakhon Pathom province.
