On May 3, 2012, afternoon, Ven. Prof. Dr. Phra Dharmakosajarn, the Rector and President of the Committee for World Vesak Association, together with Administrative team and MCU staff made a warm welcome to the Ambassador Ayaratna Banda Disanayaka of Srilanka in Thailand and the staff of Srilankan Government at room no. 401, Rector Office, Wangnoi, Ayutthaya Province; many news reporters, who heard this news, from every bureau came to interview.

The main objectives of this bilateral meeting is the mutual meeting between MCU as the representative of the Thai Government and the Embassy of Srilanka to prepare for readiness and to rehearse the process of welcoming the President Mahinda Rajapaksa who are visiting Thailand as the guest of Thai Government to join the 9th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebration 2012/B.E. 2555, which Thailand is the Host of the event organizing.
Primarily, the itinerary of visiting Thailand to join the Celebration has been set for informally ceremony joining in the length of 3 days altogether as from May 31 until June 2, 2012. The main activity will be the participation of the Celebration and speech making at UNCC on Rajdamnoen-nok Road, Bangkok in the morning of June2, 2012; the Prime Minister of Thailand; Ms Yingluck Shinawatra will welcome and join the part of speech making.

After the meeting, Ven. Prof. Dr. Phra Dharmakosajarn, the Rector and President of the Committee for World Vesak Association, led the Embassy team to have sight-seeing at the site of the event organizing and preparing for welcoming the President of Srilanka and the Buddhists around the world, more than 5,000 monks and laymen, both Thai and foreigners who are traveling to be celebrating together the great United Nations Day of Vesak Celebration this year.
